That cop actually showed quite a bit of restraint. I would have emptied the magazine until that dog wasn't moving.

The idiots who think they have no responsibility to confine their do when unattended or leash it when they are present are responsible for this. I come across dumbasses on trails all the time that have their dogs off the leash and running looses.

The owners of these two dogs should be fined. If this is a repeating scenario, then they should be jailed or given the option to not own dogs, since they are irresponsible owners.

For all the whining about the bad cop, how about the bad owners?? No anger that they don't care if their dogs are hit by a car, hurt someone or hmmmm maybe get shot for threatening someone's safety??

The dogs escaped the house, they weren't supposed to be off leash roaming or anything, accidents happen

Southern born and bred on this end. No shortage of clueless rednecks and their harmless Rottweilers down here.

Here’s my advice to every lazy, stupid dog owner that wants to pretend turning their dogs loose is no big deal:

Train your dogs to stay on your property and I won’t kill them out of hand.

I'm seeing comments about how the PD should pay the vet bills and I'm thinking why? If a large dog approached me in an aggressive manner I would be shooting to kill.

I've recently read and seen videos of two large dogs ripping a car apart, biting off a woman leg, killing kids.

If mailmen were as terrified of dogs as the average road pirate. The cop should be held personally financially responsible, I'm sure the taxpayers provided him with pepper spray, but instead he had to try and kill the dog, not to mention endanger the neighborhood with potential ricochets.

How many people should a dog bite before it is removed from circulation?

Bootlickers have yet to determine the number, too busy making excuses for them. We do know that one acorn dropping is sufficient for a cop to fire off every round at their disposal while hollering sHoTs FiReD like Barney Fife at D Day.

Well we normally only allow someone to shoot a hooman once before we remove them.

'Good fences make good neighbours'. Robert Frost might have questioned the wisdom of the sayings, but here the meaning is dripping with poignancy. This doesn't mean one should encourage the type of municipal codes or homeowner's associations with brings the petty tyrants out of the woodwork, replete with passive aggression and an itch towards the use of force and coercion, but it does mean we should honour the acquired wisdom of those who went before us.

Good fences make good neighbours, especially for the love of dogs. And if you don't like fences, then there are always hedges- although hedges can be burden in terms of maintenance and often require the use of disused household objects to plug the holes in the undergrowth, especially for small dogs.

Good fences make good neighbours because dogs are family.

Plus, don't move into a neighbourhood where the size of the back garden is dwarfed by the front. Large back gardens are the signs of those still enchanted by the dream that every Englishman's home is their castle. Pokey back gardens are a symptom of a middle class in distress and too stressed- in short, people with short fuses.

There is obviously much more to this story. The answers to the five Ws (who, what, when, where and why) would be much more helpful than what has been presented.

The officer did stop the threat, the dog is alive and the wound appears superficial.

If the PD pays the vet bill, then things should be squared up.

But the unanswered questions (why was the officer there?, what prompted the stop/visit/vehicle exit?, was a warrant being served?, had the dogs already harassed or injured someone?) still will shed more light.

The video includes comments that the dogs were running loose and the police were responding to neighbors’ complaints. If as the text suggests the dog had already bitten someone, it should already have been put down. Dogs don’t rule.

Yeah I agree. That portion was the press release that was put out with the body cam footage late in the evening last night.

Rottweilers one of the top dangerous Dogs. The Dogs should have been leashed these are big Dogs As a Team these Dogs could be very lethal. Had dealings with Pit Bulls while on the HFD.

Watching the body cam footage is a completely different perspective from the security cam on the house. It’s hard not to consider the cops reaction as justified.

If your ever in that situation see what you do laws are not made for Animals remember that. Years ago a person threatened to shoot my dog which was attacked by their dog. When she said that I went off and said some serious things back at her. A cop showed up at my door step she wanted me arrested. The Cop said laws are not made for Dogs. Simple as that and the cop defused the situation
