1. Section — LYNY
“Section” opens Act 1 like a slow-motion punch to the chest. LYNY leans into thick, rubbery bass and clean, percussive hits that feel precision-engineered for big speakers, but there’s a surprising amount of space in the mix. Instead of a wall of noise, you get a dark, minimal groove that lurches forward and then pulls back, like it’s breathing.
LYNY’s become one of the more interesting names in the new-wave trap/bass scene with lots of sound-design flex, but still anchored in simple, memorable motifs rather than pure chaos. “Section” shows that off — no vocals to get in the way, just tightly controlled tension and release. As an opener, it plants a flag. Act 1 is going to be about precision, impact, and a little bit of menace before anything pretty shows up.
2. Go Mode — INZO, Blookah, DijahSB
If “Section” is the locked-in, late-night tunnel, “Go Mode” is the moment the lights flip on and the world snaps into color. INZO and Blookah build this springy, melodic electronic backdrop — glitchy details, woozy synth leads, and drums that feel like they’re permanently leaning forward. On top of that, DijahSB delivers an easy, conversational flow that’s all self-talk and momentum, featuring bars about pushing through doubt, staying moving, staying in go mode.
INZO’s already known for cinematic, emotional bass music. Pairing that with DijahSB’s introspective but unfussy writing gives the track a weirdly comforting energy. It’s confident without being corny, motivational without sounding like a TED Talk. As Track 2, it nudges Act 1 out of pure instrumental territory into something more human and narrative, turning the initial tension into motion.
3. Spin The Block — Masego
“Spin The Block” slides in as the act’s first real dose of warmth and seduction. Masego — singer, sax player, and genre blender-in-chief — sits somewhere between R&B, jazz, and alt-pop, and this track is very much in that lane, with woozy chords, a laid-back swing, and vocals that sound like they’re half-sung, half-smirked.
Lyrically, it’s classic Masego relational orbit as he circles back to someone you can’t quite shake and flirts with the idea of rekindling something that never fully resolved. The hook feels casual but sinks in quickly, and the production keeps everything just hazy enough to feel like a memory instead of a clean-cut love song.
In the context of Act 1, “Spin The Block” is where the playlist opens the blinds a little. After the heavy bass and forward-charged energy of the first two tracks, this one loosens the shoulders, brings in romance, and hints that this project isn’t just about sound design flex — it’s also about stories, intimacy, and replay-able groove. (Foreshadowing… maybe?)
