The District in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, recently hosted an electrifying show featuring a lineup of exceptional bands. Each band brought their unique style and energy to the stage, making it a night to remember for all the attendees. Let's delve into the history and performances of each band, starting with the initial opener, Lines of Loyalty.
Lines of Loyalty, a three-person band, took the stage with an incredible chemistry that was evident from the very beginning. Their stage presence was nothing short of wonderful, with the drummer throwing his sticks around, adding a touch of excitement to their performance. In a heartwarming gesture, they gave a shout out to their merch girl, whose birthday happened to be on the same day as the show. They also took a moment to appreciate The District and its hardworking staff, showing their gratitude and genuine kindness.
Following Lines of Loyalty, Dope took the stage and immediately captivated the crowd with their strong start. The band encouraged crowd participation, creating an engaging a lively atmosphere. The lights were a definite step up from the previous band, although they came with a warning for those who may be epileptic due to their blinding intensity. It's worth noting that Dope has an impressive touring history, having previously shared the stage with Sevendust and Static-X back in 1999. The lead singer showcased his remarkable talent with consistent and powerful screams, adding another layer of intensity to their performance. The guitarist and bassist were a dynamic duo, constantly switching sides and keeping the audience on their toes. One of the highlights of their set was their cover of the iconic song "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" by Dead or Alive, which was executed flawlessly.
Sevendust took the stage next, commencing their performance with a Carpenter's song titled "We've Only Just Begun." The graphics accompanying their set had a staticky effect, adding a visually striking element to their performance. In a playful moment, someone from the crowd tossed a small rubber ducky to the lead singer, who promptly kissed it, much to the delight of the audience. After the show I was able to chat with another local artist GP who said the last two Sevendust shows he saw were awful and this was pretty much the exact opposite!
Finally, Static-X closed the show with a bang. Before their set began, they played a lighthearted rendition of the Halloween classic "Monster Mash," setting the stage for a thrilling performance. Static-X is known for their unique fusion of industrial metal and nu-metal, and their set was no exception. Their stage presence was electrifying, with the band members delivering a high-energy performance that had the crowd on their feet. The combination of heavy riffs, pounding drums, and aggressive vocals created an intense atmosphere that perfectly encapsulated the essence of their music.
