There's something special about Maloney's in Council Bluffs. This venue has a certain charm that makes it stand out, and it's easy to see why it's a favorite for many, including myself. Having attended three shows at this spot, I can vouch for the unparalleled dedication and care the staff pours into every event. The recent Monsters Ball Tour Night 2 was no exception.
Maloney's: A Venue Like No Other
From the outset, everything was perfectly set up for the guests. The drink specials, the meticulously organized merch area with grid walls, and the cozy green room in the basement for tour support – everything was in place. Maloney's has always gone the extra mile, and their thoughtful gestures, like the 'duck' signs to warn of low ceilings, highlight their attentiveness.
A Night Filled With Musical Brilliance
The musical journey began with Q Street. The power and fervor he brought to the stage were reminiscent of James1stgen from Sioux Falls. As much as I admire Q Street's dedication and passion, I felt that a better sound balance would have elevated the performance even further.
Following Q Street, the Outlawz stepped onto the stage. Representing the vibrant Midwest Juggalo group, their energy was electric, and their commitment to the audience, staying till the very end, showcased their dedication to their craft.
Supa Chronic was next, and let me tell you, he stole the local spot on the show for me. With uplifting beats complemented by his 'peace & love' hippy attire, he bridged the gap between the local performers and the tour's main attractions seamlessly.
Worldwide Chaos, joining the tour for their first night, were next. Seeing them for the third time, I was amazed at the progress they've made. Their sound, sharper than ever, was a testament to their commitment to continuous improvement. It's inspiring to witness a group evolve so beautifully.
The Enlightened Ones took over next. With an increased ticket sale from the previous night, the expectations were high, and boy, did they deliver! The atmospheric addition of their bubble gun, combined with the mesmerizing LED lights, created a visual and auditory feast.
Finally, the legends, Louie Fontana and Gorilla Pimp graced the stage. Their reputation of having shared the platform with big names like Snow Tha Product and Atmosphere speaks volumes about their talent. But it was Gorilla Pimp's unexpected jest about playing with Clay Aiken that added a touch of humor to the evening. Their performances, filled with entertaining antics from the 'old men stretch' routine to the unforgettable moment of Louie crawling into a prop coffin, were the highlight of the night. The crescendo reached its peak with their rendition of "Electric Faygo", a personal favorite.
Wrapping Up
The Monsters Ball Tour Night 2 at Maloney's was a confluence of brilliant music, unparalleled energy, and unforgettable moments. A huge shoutout to all the artists and the staff at Maloney's for creating an experience that will be cherished for years to come.
haha... I loved the last image in this article. The bathtub-wine session, after a long night, would be an epic conclusion to a hype show - considering I know how hard they go.
