Lost Lands 2024: A Prehistoric Musical Adventure - Day 2
Legend Valley, OH, USA
Day 2 of Lost Lands turned into a dino-mite adventure, beginning with a chance encounter at the gas station. We bumped into none other than Boogie T himself! After a few excited exchanges filled with the spirit of camaraderie, we reminisced about our shared experiences at festivals and shows in Minneapolis. I left out I was writing on the show and got a really amazing down to earth experience with him! Our friends David and Darrian even got to swap their one-of-a-kind Boogie T Kandi with him. He left us with a playful reminder: “You better come to my set.” A promise we had already made to ourselves!
Before diving into the music, we made our way to the merch booth and snagged a Yookie pash and a Lost Lands jersey. Nothing like some fresh gear to get into the spirit of the fest!
As night fell, we made our way to catch Delta Heavy, affectionately dubbed “the angel one” by our daughter. The set was a blast, and I devoured a smoothie popsicle.
Next up was Subtronics, who holds a special place in our hearts as the act that brought my wife and me together during the drive-in rave days of COVID. He rocked the Wompy Woods, taking us on a nostalgic journey. Following Subtronics was Apashe, and after soaking in some of his set, we headed to the Crater for Ahee.
Let me tell you, the new Crater setup might just elevate Lost Lands over any other festival venue for me! The space felt perfectly utilized, transforming what was once ever-changing terrain into a consistent, immersive experience.
It was perfect to catch Ahee at the crater first since we fell in love with him when he opened up for Big Gigantic a little clsoer to home in Lincoln a while back.
Sullivan King took the prehistoric stage by storm, delivering a set that slayed with incredible energy. His drone animations were breathtaking; honestly, they made me rethink the use of pyrotechnics altogether. Who needs fire when you can have eco-friendly drones lighting up the sky?
Then came Zeds Dead, who took us on an exhilarating ride. With their intense visuals and mind-bending arrangements, it felt like they took Subtronics’ Tesseract, deconstructed it, and layered in new grooves and beats that had the entire crowd vibing, reminding us that they could always surprise us. And of course, it was always a treat to catch a little piece of Griz in their set. They blessed us with another taste of Limp Bizkit, picking up where Fairlane had left off the day before.
Normally, I’d have lingered a little longer to catch Zeds Dead for our editor, but Boogie T’s chill vibe and down-to-earth nature called me back. I made my way early to the Crater, where the night would conclude just as it began.
We wrapped up Day 2 the way we started: with BoogieT, but this time under the Bone seats in the Crater. The atmosphere was electric as we vibed the night away to Boogie’s funky beats, feeling like we were part of something truly prehistoric and magical. Lost Lands not only brought us incredible music but also a sense of community that felt as timeless as the dinosaurs themselves. Here’s to more days of beats, bass, and unforgettable memories!
