Lost Lands 2024: A Prehistoric Musical Adventure - Day 1
Legend Valley, OH, USA
Lost Lands 2024 roared to life in a whirlwind of excitement and last-minute miracles, as music enthusiasts gathered like a herd of dinosaurs ready to embark on a journey of sonic bliss. Despite facing unexpected challenges — like the sudden changes in fire safety protocols that banned chill beans and hammocks, along with a no-smoking policy — we thrived in the festival grounds, surrounded by friends and family who came through like true dino-companions to make it all possible.
As we entered the festival, the familiar sounds of Ganja White Knight echoed through the Wompy Woods stage, setting the tone for what promised to be an unforgettable night. San Holo took the stage next, delivering a performance that was nothing short of a revelation. When the haunting notes of “Phantom of the Opera” unexpectedly filled the air, it was like a T-Rex crashing through the underbrush—captivating and thrilling the audience.
Over at the Forest stage, Jantsen ignited the atmosphere with a fiery remix of Paramore, sending shockwaves of energy through the crowd. The Subsidia stage saw Fairlane unleash an electrifying set, complete with a nostalgic nod to Green Day that had everyone singing along, like a chorus of prehistoric birds.
The highlight of the night was Fall Out Boy’s iconic track "Sugar, We're Goin Down," which reverberated through the venue. It was infused with a fresh vocal track that seamlessly merged with contemporary beats, proving that great music transcends time—much like the mighty dinosaurs themselves. Not to date us folks but that song is almost two decades old now.
As the night drew to a close, Excision took the stage in a spectacle that felt like a battle of the titans. With robot noises and visually stunning transformer-inspired visuals, he created a sensory experience that left us in awe. While the absence of fireworks and pyrotechnics was felt, it was compensated by an array of dazzling lasers and drones that illuminated the night sky, casting a magical glow over the festival grounds.
As Day 1 of Lost Lands 2024 came to an end, we were left with a sense of euphoria and anticipation for the days ahead. The power of music to unite us and elevate our spirits was on full display, reminding us of the transformative power of live performances and shared experiences.
