Jim Jordan loses Speakership vote
The House minority leader received more votes than Jordan
The GOP nominee for Speaker of the House Jim Jordan received 200 votes, failing to secure the Speakership. The House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries received 212 votes.
Neither nominee received the necessary 217 votes.
Despite Jordan gaining some ground with the House Republicans, during the vote, over a dozen Republicans voted for other options, including former Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), who withdrew from the Speaker race last week.
The House is now in recess, and will need to vote again to fill the vacancy.
