Intellectual Dissatisfaction: A History
Just a recap of our first year a little late!
Once upon a time, on April 10, 2023, a bunch of mischievous wizards were born. Led by our fearless founding father/Headmaster/Editor-in-chief Jeremy Mercier, we embarked on a quest to escape the treacherous realm of social media keyboard warriors and organize our magical thoughts.
Now, Jeremy, bless his wand-waving heart, couldn't help but get drawn to two things: Crypto and Politics. He had this burning passion for protecting our precious Constitutional rights, and maintaining order in this chaotic world. So, he sought solace in Substack, a magical refuge where he could type up his thoughts and include all his source material. No more blindly arguing with those pesky social media trolls!
And thus, our original Crypto and Political sections were conjured into existence. We waved our wands and brought forth articles filled with enchanting debates and mind-boggling facts.
But Jeremy couldn't embark on this magical publication journey alone. He needed other trusted wizards just like Godric Gryffindor enlisted Hufflepuff, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw. He needed someone open to new ideas and eager to try new things. Enter some of Jeremy's best friends, who, despite not being into politics, were introduced to the wonders of Electric Forest years ago by Headmaster Mercier. Together, they decided to expand beyond politics and introduce our first non-political section, Lyrical Limelight. Oh, the melodies that awaited us!
On July 27, 2023, our first music article burst onto the scene like a Firebolt on steroids. The homies at Ravetopia were given the honor to run merch for the legendary BDE Boys at First Avenue. It was a magical spectacle that left us spellbound! And the enchantment continued as we covered three back-to-back articles on the Four Winds Music and Art Festival, capturing the essence of all three magical days.
Soon, more of our mischievous friends, like the talented Kela, hopped on the publication bandwagon. In just one year, we covered almost 50 music shows in seven states, including legendary festivals like Four Winds, Lost Lands, Secret Dreams, Shorefest, Electric Summer, Lifelight, Ribfest, Antimatter, Dancefestopia, and Texas Eclipse. We have been lucky enough to cover memorable artists such as Flo Rida, Griz, Wreckno, Skillet, Electric Callboy, Zingara, Zeds Dead, Sullivan King, Kai Wachi, Svdden Death, Borgore, Yookie, DJ Diesel/Shaq, Ganja White Knight, Excision, Ray Volpe, LSDREAM, Subtronics, Liquid Stranger, Puddles Pitty Party, Prof, Big Gigantic, Boogie T, Clozee, Dirt Monkey, BTSM, Gavin Degraw, Icon for Hire, Little Big, and many more. The music of the year filled the air like a charm-filled potion, leaving us all in a state of pure wizarding bliss.
But we didn't stop at music, oh no! On August 25, 2023, our Comedic Relief section was born, making us laugh like a bunch of tickled pixies. Kela, the wizarding artist extraordinaire, started The Art Collective section on August 27th, showcasing breathtaking creations from across the magical realm.
Then, on October 19, 2023, we added our Rambling Man section, which took us on a journey to memorable places to stay, eat, and see. From Hot Springs to Mount Rushmore, our writers crossed paths with magical wonders that left us craving more adventure.
Come January 4th of this year, we unleashed our Flick Frenzy Section, filled to the brim with spellbinding show and movie reviews. The Muggles over at IMDB even recognized our magical talent and accepted many of our reviews as official! Oh, the fame we felt!
And on February 19th of this year, our final and newest section sprouted like a Mandrake. This section showcased local businesses that worked their magic to help the community. We welcomed new writers with open arms, like wizards collaborating to create the most powerful spells.
Now, dear reader, we must warn you. Our mix of politics and magic often attracts some interesting side effects. Some Muggles out there call us crazy right-winged Republicans! But fear not, for we come bearing the truth. Our top two writers may seam to lean that way, but we're a diverse bunch, and we strive to keep our articles fact-based. If you stumble upon an article marked as Opinion/Point of View, it's just a friendly reminder that it may not reflect our publication directly. We aim to spread the magic, not build pay walls like those greedy goblins. Instead, we rely on stats and numbers to drive our paid advertisement income, so you don't have to pay a single Galleon to read our work.
So, grab your broomsticks and join us on this whimsical journey through the magical world of articles. We passed 50k reads and are on our way to 100k now! Together, we'll cast spells of knowledge, laughter, and community support. Accio, readers! Let the magic unfold!
Thanks for sharing man! How is the east coast treating you?
