Thanks to the assistance of our new photographer from MAKAYLA LILY STUDIO, we were able to cover several shows in downtown Sioux Falls this weekend! Special thanks to our friend Blue for grabbing the opener pics while we covered the Denham show the same night as well!
On a damp night at Club David, music enthusiasts gathered for a memorable show featuring the talented and energetic band, Icon for Hire. The evening was filled with a diverse lineup of bands, each offering their own unique sound and style.
Kicking off the night was Robots Rising, a band that delivered a mixture of aggressive vocals and hard electronic beats. Their unconventional style served as the perfect opener, setting the tone for the rest of the night.
Next up was Rival Within, a more traditional rock band that added a touch of familiarity to the lineup. With a few cover songs mixed into their set, they had the crowd singing along and nodding their heads in approval.
Discrepancies took the stage next, bringing their rap rock/rap metal style to the forefront. With stylized lyrics and great crowd interaction, they captivated the audience and got everyone moving to their infectious beats.
And finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for arrived - Icon for Hire took center stage. The band, formed in Decatur, Illinois, by vocalist Ariel Bloomer and guitarist Shawn Jump, has been making waves in the music industry since their formation in 2007. The name "Icon for Hire" itself is a satirical comment on the state of the music industry, which adds an interesting layer to their persona.
As the band performed their hits, the crowd was electrified by their energetic stage presence and infectious sound. Fans sang along to every word, and the atmosphere was electric. It was a reminder of the power of live music and how it can bring people together in a shared experience.
Now, here's a little joke to lighten the mood: Isn't it funny that Icon for Hire didn't play at The Icon? You couldn't help but chuckle at the irony. But regardless of the venue, and stage size, the band delivered a stellar performance that left a lasting impression on everyone in attendance.
Icon for Hire has come a long way since their early days, signing with Tooth & Nail Records and releasing their debut full-length album, Scripted, in 2011. They have continued to evolve and experiment with their sound, releasing their self-titled album in 2013 and going independent in 2015. Their latest album, Amorphous, released in 2021, has garnered positive reviews and further solidified their place in the music industry.
As the night came to a close, the audience left Club David with a sense of fulfillment, knowing they had witnessed something truly special. Icon for Hire's performance was a testament to their talent and dedication to their craft. It was a night filled with unforgettable music, and a reminder of the power of live performances to bring people together in a shared love for music.
