Flo Rida: An All Day Affair at the Fair
W.H. Lyons Fair Grounds, Sioux Falls, SD, USA
As my family and I embarked on our adventure to the fair, I got a good feeling. With Flo Rida's catchy tunes playing in the background, we couldn't help but feel the rhythm and anticipation for a fun-filled day.
We all packed into our cars and grabbed my sister from her new Dakota Abilities housing, adding to the family atmosphere.
Upon arriving at the fairgrounds, my wife, always one step ahead, had already secured a prime spot. I explained that I had stopped to help an eldery fellow with a fully loaded wheelbarrow causing my tardiness, or as my daughter put it “I saw what you did dad, you stopped to help that old man.” It did make me think on the current state of the economy when a man, well into his 60’s, was collecting the old thick sewer pipes for scrap money to make ends meet.
With our press passes in hand, we entered the fair, eager to explore and indulge in the festivities.
Food was our first priority, and we wasted no time in satisfying our cravings. The aroma of giant turkey legs filled the air, making it the obvious choice for my family's go-to fair food. With our stomachs content, we took a leisurely stroll through the animal barns, marveling at the adorable newborn pigs and other farmyard companions. It was a perfect opportunity to reminisce about watching "The Animal Farm" with my youngest son just a few days ago.
A stop at the 4H stand was a must, and I couldn't resist diving into a slice of their famous pie. It was a delicious treat that didn't break the bank, a testament to the fair's affordability.
With our bellies full and spirits high, we decided it was time for some thrilling rides.
We received our half price all day ride bracelets for the little ones, and we spent hours spinning, twirling, and laughing on the exhilarating attractions. The joy on their faces was priceless, and it was a reminder of the power of the fair to bring people together and create lasting memories.
We couldn't resist trying our luck at the games as well and ended up winning two large prizes for the kids, much to their delight.
As Grammy joined us, the excitement reached its peak. We continued to ride the attractions, and grammy had to have a funnel cake! We were also able to try the 4H Rose hip Lemonade that Dakota News covered in their Fair section, you can actually see us in the background in the 4H section. Savoring every moment and bite before the highly anticipated show.
As the show drew near, Grammy took her leave, and the rest of us headed to the Grandstands. The opening acts were entertaining. Although, I couldn't help but wish for a more family-friendly setlist. It seemed unnecessary to include explicit, not even well-known songs in the DJ setlist for a show that catered to all-ages.
Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for arrived. Flo Rida took the stage, and the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. Thanks to the Legendary BDE Boys my daughter was especially thrilled, because she had danced on stage with him last year at Mankato Ribfest. His energy was infectious, and he played a medley of his greatest hits. The atmosphere was electrifying. Everyone reveled in the music and the joy it brought.
Flo Rida's career has been nothing short of remarkable. With hits like "Right Round," "Wild Ones," and "My House," he has solidified his status as one of the best-selling music artists of our time. His journey from the Carol City neighborhood of Miami Gardens to international stardom, is a testament to his talent and determination.
As the show came to an end, we left the fairgrounds with smiles on our faces and memories etched in our hearts. Flo Rida had provided us with an all-day affair at the fair, filled with laughter, excitement, and the magic of music. It was a day we would never forget, and we couldn't wait to share our experience with friends and family.
Flo Rida's music has a way of bringing people together, transcending age, and creating an atmosphere of pure joy. Whether it's dancing on stage, winning prizes at the fair, or simply singing along to his infectious tunes, his music has the power to uplift and inspire. As we drove home, still humming his songs, we couldn't help but feel grateful for the unforgettable day we had spent with Flo Rida at the fair.
