As my boy Watsky would say "There's nothing like the first time.” As I was driving to the cities the song Look How Far We've Come by Quinn XCII came on. This made me sit back and really think about just how far I had come. Almost 7 years ago to the week was the first time I had ever stood outside of First Avenue. Some of my best friends and I stood there as we realized the same weekend we were in town for Die Antwoord at the Myth, Robert DeLong was in town at First Avenue! I still remember my first time ever walking into the venue and seeing the Piano that Prince played on sitting there. I said to myself “Someday you could have a piece of history like that.” To this day the closest I have come is an autographed Goo Goo Dolls Guitar. First Avenue was also host to my first Watsky concert, my Wife’s first Aurora Concert, and recently my Wife’s first Watsky concert. Needless to say this Venue will always hold a special place in my heart.
So when I got the call from BDE Boys saying I was approved to come run merch for them as they open up for Jake Giller I was floating on cloud 9! To top it off it was in the 7th Street entrance area which is the only area of the venue I had yet to see.
Now enough about the venue itself and lets talk about some of the artists and show! The other night, music enthusiasts were treated to a magical evening of local musicians at the highly anticipated show that marked the return of Jake Giller.
Jake Giller, a celebrated artist in the music industry, is known for his soul-stirring performances and his ability to create an intimate connection with his listeners. For this concert, he decided to take things to the next level by inviting some of his closest musician friends to join him on stage. The result was an exceptional fusion of diverse talents, creating an atmosphere that was electrifying from start to finish.
The night kicked off with an opening act that set the perfect tone for what was to come. The crowd was immediately captivated by the contagious energy and vibe of the BDE Boys. After the BDE Boys started the night off around 7 and got everyone jumping, screaming, and warmed up it was an onslaught of varying artists until Jake Giller Came on right around 11.
What really impressed me though and pulled the show together is that rather than just let his friends open for him, he brought several of them on stage to do performances with him, and even took the time to show off his personal artist who does his flier and logo designs. The entire show had a great community effort feel to it. It was great to see so many artists truly working together so easily and cohesively. Very few ppl filtered out as artists finished and the house was still pretty packed all the way to the end!
If last night's concert is any indication of what the future holds for the music industry, then we can look forward to a world where collaborations and shared creativity take center stage. Jake Giller and his friends have proven that when talented artists come together, magic happens, leaving an everlasting impact on all those fortunate enough to witness it.
