Another year, another chance to see Excision. We headed out early Saturday morning on the road, yet again, to Minneapolis. We decided to stay at a different hotel this time, and it did not disappoint. We got to our hotel about 3:30, and settled in. Decided to jump in the hot tub before the show. Though we couldn’t get it to work right, it was still relaxing to sit in. We showered and then began to get ready. Luckily, our hotel joined with our friend’s apartment building, so Paul went and practiced on the mix board until I got there. Met some new people, talked to some old friends waiting for 8pm.
After the incredible success of Excision's Nexus Tour Night 1, fans eagerly anticipated the second night of the tour. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint. With a lineup that included Steller, Hairitage, Yookie, Jessica Audiffred, and Space Laces, as well as Excision himself as the headliner, Night 2 was a night to remember.
Just after 8, we walked over to the Armory. The line was long, but moved quickly. Walked into the venue where Steller was already playing. Hit up the merch booth, and Paul got an awesome new Yookie jersey. Our Shorefest fam was there night one, but Paul really wanted to see Yookie, which is why we chose the 2nd night. We geared up with some waters and vibed with Steller’s experimental bass.

Nelson Cid, a prominent figure in the Siouxciety community, also shared his thoughts on the opening acts. He commended Steller for delivering a solid performance as an opening act, with great wubs and light production.
Next, was Hairitage. We have seen him before at Lost Lands, but never in a venue. He had the crowd going with all sorts of bass. Fast, slow, house, and was a really enjoyable time.
Nelson said Hairitage, although not his personal preference in terms of heavy sets, still managed to bring high energy to the stage. Nelson particularly enjoyed the comic book vibe of Hairitage's visuals.
We managed to run into our soul rave fam, Eva and Nathan by the bathrooms. We met at Excision 3 years ago, and since, never planning a meet up, but somehow gravity has brought us together at the Armory over and over and over agan.
Next, was Yookie. Yookie was probably the best set of the night. They have really deep low wubs, sounds that are fun, and took us on a journey in their mind of what they love about music. Eva and Nathan hung out with us for a while, and then took off into the wild.
Nelson commented that Yookie brought a vibey set to the table but also had a playful side, trolling the crowd while dropping some incredible bangers. The addition of six lasers during their set added an extra level of excitement.
Moving on to Jessica Audiffred, Nelson felt that she would have been better placed before Yookie in the lineup. While her set was good and high-energy, there wasn't much variety in the sound. However, Nelson did appreciate the visual pack that accompanied her performance. Personally when we saw the lineup we immediately had the same thoughts as Nelson about Yookie and Jessica’s spots in the lineup.
After Jessica Audiffred played, was Space Laces. I was hyped for his set, but it was different than I thought. Not in a bad way, but just wasn’t exactly what I was anticipating.
As for Space Laces, Nelson found it difficult to differentiate between their set and Excision's, noting that Space Laces had slightly less production. Nonetheless, he acknowledged their excellent performance.
We had the opportunity to speak with Chestaboy, a dedicated fan who attended the event. When asked about his experience, he had a mix of praise and critique. According to him, the visuals and artists were top-notch as always. However, he expressed disappointment in the crowd, citing the presence of fraternities and clout chasers who seemed more concerned with their image than truly enjoying the music. Despite this, Chestaboy still managed to have a great time, especially during Space Laces' set, which he described as awesome and unique. He also mentioned that Excision's new visuals were a sight to behold. Even though he had club floor tickets, Chestaboy spent most of his time in the GA section, which speaks volumes about the energy and atmosphere at the Armory.
Finally, it was 12:00- Excision was about to go on. I have seen Excision many, many times, and was ready for whatever he was going to throw at us. Usually, at sold out shows, we go through periods of times where it is super packed and hot, but this time was different. We were lucky enough to have enough space to dance and enjoy ourselves without being too hot. Excision yet put on another great show. I can’t say it was my most favorite Excision set, but still enjoyed the whole evening. We got to experience the awesome Shrek visuals that so many people anticipated. All the PLUR was great, and didn’t run into any problems.
The show ended, and we all left the Armory. We got back to the hotel and eventually went to bad. The next morning, we hit the hot tub one more time before heading on our Journey home. One of my favorite things about Excision, is the past 5 years, we have gotten a picture of Paul and I, in a blue light setting, and managed to get another memory of that.
Excision's Nexus Tour Night 2 was a testament to the artist's talent and dedication to pushing the boundaries of EDM production. From the opening acts to the headliner, each artist brought their own flair and energy to the stage, creating an atmosphere of pure excitement. The visuals and production were on another level, leaving the audience in awe. It was truly an unforgettable night for all who attended.
