From London, UK to The Icon, Sioux Falls, SD, USA
Thanks to the assistance of our new photographer from MAKAYLA LILY STUDIO, we were able to cover several shows in downtown Sioux Falls this weekend, capturing great pictures for you all to enjoy!
The Icon in Sioux Falls, SD recently hosted an incredible show featuring a diverse lineup of talented artists. From up-and-coming Local Sioux Falls lyricist Denham, to our favorite Mankato BDE Boys, to the UK-based group High Wired, the night was filled with unforgettable performances that left the audience wanting more.
Opening the show was The BDE Boys, a beloved Midwest artist group. Although they’re based out of Mankato, they are known for their frequent visits to the area. The show happened to coincide with Andy's golden birthday, adding an extra layer of excitement to the night. Their high-energy performance and infectious stage presence made them the favorite opener of the night. They have joined High Wired in the TikTok game recently, and we are hoping to work with them to bring some new material to other platforms as well! They ended with ‘Rocket League’, inspired by the hit game. As a parent of four I love this, because we try to keep The violent shooting games to a minimum. Games like Rocket League, that the local schools are picking up as part of their new E-Sports program, give me a positive way to steer my children to these more friendly games.
Another talented artist who graced the stage next was Lexi McGee. With her soulful voice and incredible stage presence, McGee has performed all over the city and has gained a reputation for her performances. Her ability to connect with the audience through her popular cover set list was evident, seemingly making her a crowd favorite, especially for the feminine side of the audience and a standout opener for the night.
South Dakota's very own hip-hop artist, Jay GreyBuffalo, was up next. GreyBuffalo set the tone for the night, announcing he had some new music coming soon. So keep your eyes out for that!
There was an unexpected surprise for the audience as GQ JESUS took the stage for an extra set that was not originally on the flyer. Known for his dynamic and energetic performances, GQ JESUS brought his unique style and charisma to the stage.
High Wired, a UK-based group, took the stage as the headliner for the night, traveling all the way from London to grace the audience in Sioux Falls. Their mesmerizing performance and captivating stage presence left the crowd in awe, showcasing their incredible talent and solidifying their status as headliners.
If you are not familiar with High Wired, you may not be a TikTok user. This band is at the forefront of utilizing TikTok as their platform of choice, appealing to a new generation of fans. While it is common for younger groups to gravitate towards newer platforms, it is essential for bands to maintain a presence across various social media platforms to bridge generational gaps and reach a broader audience. By utilizing social media managers or friends to ensure consistent and engaging content across platforms, bands can effectively cross-pollinate fan bases and keep their music relevant to a diverse audience.
Denham, the local headliner, showcased his unique style that draws inspiration from various genres such as jazz, R&B, hip hop, and classic rock. With a mission to create a sound that is entirely his own, Denham's fusion of harmonies captivated the crowd and left a lasting impression. Collaborating with successful artists from different backgrounds, Denham proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in the local music scene.
Overall, the show at The Icon in Sioux Falls, SD was a great night. From Denham's fusion of genres, Lexi McGee's soulful voice, the BDE Boys' high-energy performance, to High Wired's international flair, the audience was treated to a diverse array of talent. The Icon continues to be a hub for incredible live performances, showcasing both local and international artists and solidifying its reputation as a must-visit venue in Sioux Falls.
