I am Jeremy Mercier, Owner of the Substack Publication, Intellectual Dissatisfaction.
I am a 29-year-old father, husband, full-time BICSI Certified Telecommunications Infrastructure Foreman, drummer, aspiring writer/publication owner, and technical analyst.
I grew up in Connecticut, where I was homeschooled and private schooled through 7th grade. I graduated from Bristol Central High School in 2012 and joined the workforce only a few months later. I met my wife in high school, started dating afterward, and within less than a year of graduating, we moved to South Dakota with no more than 700$ and a 2000 Volkswagen Passatt to our names. Oh, and one “Mischievous” cat. 10 years later, we own our first home, and we have a beautiful 3-year-old daughter and a son due in November. We’re even growing peppers this year, thanks to my good friend over at RaveTopia. Oh, and the cat is still loafing around too.
Sometimes, it’s the little things.
I created this Publication out of necessity.
I feel my interests are continually undermined and ignored by those whose purpose is to ensure I stay informed. I believe this is a mutual feeling amongst most Americans today. Hence the rise in citizen journalism. The inspirations that led them to sit down, research, study, write, and publish articles on issues they feel lack coverage are the ones that compelled me to do the same.
My vision is to foster a space where the people in my life who share in my “intellectual dissatisfaction” can collaborate and create something that we believe will benefit our friends, families, and communities. We are a diverse group of individuals concerning our heritage, cultural upbringings, lifestyles, and opinions. However, we have more things in common than things we disagree on. Our shared values are concealed from us. The division exists because we engage with it, not because there is no means of mending it.
We’re growing!
Our expanding team of contributors is working on a handful of new passion projects. As we find our footing and progress on these projects, we will release information about them. We’ve welcomed on 2 new contributors, and we will likely be adding a 3rd.
So, stay tuned!
